The City of Coral Gables is helping Operation Candy Corn collect gently used Halloween costumes by setting up a collection bin at the War Memorial Youth Center.
You can drop off new and used Halloween costumes at 405 University Drive, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. Deadline to donate: Friday, October 23.
Operation Candy Corn was started last year by Brennen Lopez, a Christopher Columbus High School sudent and Coral Gables resident. This year, Brennen has teamed up with Branches, a leading nonprofit that addresses the root causes of poverty, with four South Florida locations serving more than 250 kids. Brennen’s goal is to collect costumes for all of Branches 250+ kids and host a Halloween party for all of them at organization’s South Miami location.
If you have a costume, or a closet full of them, please consider donating to Brennen’s Operation Candy Corn.
For those interested in helping with to make the planned Halloween party a success (decorations, cups, plates, pizza, snacks, cupcakes, cakes, water, juice, etc.) please send Brennen an email: blopez17196@columbushs.com.
